I am all about making my own cleaners, mostly because I am super cheap (and poor LOL) and it seems to me like the homemade stuff works 100% better than anything I can buy. So, we recently bought some Mandarin oranges and I asked the kids to save their peels and I used them in this recipe. And it smells yum!! And it works, too!
(Btw, last night we made salad consisting of the Mandarin oranges, chopped apples, lettuce, olive oil, salt and pepper and OMG YUM!)
You can use lemon peels, orange peels, grapefruit or any other citrus fruit peel (one fruit or a combo).
How to make the household cleaner:
- Peel your citrus fruit and place as many peels as you can in a mason jar.
- Fill with vinegar and let sit for five days on your counter.
- Strain into a spray bottle and fill with half with water and half with vinegar.
- And BAM! You're done!
You can use the vinegar at full strength for an oven cleaner:
- Spread baking soda all over the bottom of your oven,
- Then spritz with citrus vinegar and let sit for 20 minutes and
- Then wipe clean with a scrubbie sponge
That's it! So easy, so fast, and works so well!
